Apple’s latest “budget” tablet is built using the M1 processor which is, essentially, a laptop part. Trust me, you can get a huge external hard drive to archive all your photos for much less.īelieve it or not, in terms of performance and build quality, the closest comparison I can think of for the Surface Laptop Go 2 is actually the latest iPad Air. But with how good Microsoft OneDrive is these days, save the $100.00 and just get the 128GB version. That configuration will run you back $799.99. The configuration Microsoft sent me for review is the highest-end version, which includes the Intel Core i5 chip, 8GB of RAM but also increases the SSD storage space to 256GB. That’s still not enough to do a lot of heavy lifting - this is not a laptop meant for heavy video editing or anything - but it will mean that it won’t slow down just because you have 15 Edge or Chrome tabs open. For $699.99 you get the same processor and SSD, but the memory is kicked up to 8GB. I’d recommend you go up to the next configuration, though.
This configuration will likely be perfect for the type of person that’s just writing up quick papers in Microsoft Office or for a family member that just wants a laptop to check email and have a little laptop lying around in their living room. The Surface Laptop Go 2 starts at $599.99, which will get you an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD.
